Fine dining Slovenian style

Growing better and bolder

Hiša Denk is located in Zgornja Kungota, not far from Maribor. A modern exterior with a large terrace, a pond and a park stirs the curiosity and expectation in a guest. And rightfully so. The modern wooden pavilion leads to a contemporary dining room. An abundance of wood, warm colours and natural light.

The family restaurant, Hiša Denk, is deservedly known as one of the most beautiful, and also the best fine dining country restaurants in Slovenia. Their cuisine based on the local Štajerska environment and family tradition unashamedly and with no reservations compares in quality to the best fine dining restaurants around the world.

The restaurant has been open since 1972, but continues to be better and bolder.

Chef Gregor Vračko, the second generation involved in hospitality, strives for his guests to simply enjoy their restaurant. He has trained in top international kitchens and cooks equally well and attentively behind a domestic stove, attracting more and more guests.

Chef Vračko places significant focus on the presentation and the smallest of details. Even more high-quality ingredients In Hiša Denk, they shamelessly admit that they are willing to spend a lot on a top ingredient and invest a lot of time or effort. Nothing else works for the concept they develop. It’s evident from the plates that there is an abundance of love for cooking and great talent behind it all.

Meet the chef

His dishes speak for him

Vračko doesn’t like to boast or speak about himself. He lets his creations do the talking.

As a child born into a hospitality family, he was always something special. Unruly and immensely curious. His brother David, who develops his own culinary story in Maribor’s Mak, has also dedicated his life to cuisine.

Gregor’s always been drawn out into the world, and has also experienced much of it. He has worked in the best fine dining restaurants in Austria, Germany, England, the USA and elsewhere.
